10 Brilliant Surrey artists, creating art for your home

This week we are featuring 10 brilliant Surrey artists, that create incredible art for your home.

I am regularly asked by my clients for resources for unique art for their homes. It is often the final piece of the jigsaw puzzle, finding that incredible, perfect piece to finish off a space.

Sourcing can be tricky; contact us if you would like us to guide you through that journey. I have decided to compile a resource for anyone looking to find that perfect piece of art to add to their home.

Being a Surrey based interior designer, I wanted to feature local talent. These 10 brilliant Surrey artists showcase such diversity and talent. I hope you will be drawn to take that step and find that final piece of the jigsaw puzzle.

This week we are featuring the first five, so don’t forget to return next week for another five incredible artists.

Jan Erika Surrey multi media
 artist

Jan Erika is a multi-media artist with more than one string to her bow  –  her cello bow. Yes, she is a classically trained cellist who has enjoyed a successful career in the concert halls, and later teaching music. You can hear her on Paul Weller and Stone Foundation’s new releases next year.

Her childhood on the east coast of England sowed the seeds of her passion for shape, form, pattern and colour. She developed a love of what she calls ‘the rhythm of the landscape’, and this is reflected in much of her work.

“I often begin with an actual flower or plant, then let the inner rhythm take me where it will.  There is a strong relationship between music, nature and my work. It is totally absorbing, whether I am creating a painting for Paul Weller’s home, a silk scarf, rug design or even a range of tableware for Juliska USA.

My passion for colour has taken me to paint live in Fortnum and Mason ( first ever live in-house artist ), The Royal Academy of Art and Kensington Palace this October 2019. 2020 brings several exciting new projects with English Heritage, Matthew Wailles Rugs for Decorex 2020″.

Trudi was born & raised in the Surrey Hampshire borders. After attending Art & Design college Trudi achieved a 1st Class degree from Nottingham University in Fashion.

Trudi has always been inspired by the natural world, in particular animal instincts and their behaviour, and flora and foliage. Through her skills as an artist, Trudi has been focusing on capturing the quirky and elegant characteristics of each animal in portrait alongside studying the natural world that surrounds her. The whimsical and unpredictability of nature is flattered by her free-flowing painting style.

She has honed her skills working with multimedia, layering and manipulating surfaces to create tension, depth and feelings in her work. After slowly layering the enamel elements, Trudi finalises each piece by encasing the canvas in resin. The overall effect is a glazed finish with new depths in every viewing.
