Kitchen Revamp 1: Paint
This is nothing new or original but within this space it can be applied in 4 different ways!
Firstly the obvious solution is paint the walls. By adding a pop of colour or bright reflective paint to a room, the space will be instantly transformed.
The second option and “very on trend”, is to paint the units. This can be time consuming with undercoating and top coating but the results can be amazing. There are many companies who offer a spray painting or hand painting service, saving you time and effort.
Option three is to paint your tiles. We have all seen those kitchens where hideous motifs appear on all the wall tiles. Well now there are companies that offer a wide range of tile paint, which can hide a multitude of sins!
The final paint option is to paint your floors. Hideous floor tiles can also be covered with paint, or maybe you have some slightly orangey pine floor boards that need to be covered. Floor paint is hard wearing, cost affective and can make a huge difference.
Kitchen Revamp 2: Hardware
This is probably the simplest and quickest change, swap you cabinet handles. Updating kitchen hardware for a more modern design or a different metal finish can produce a striking result.
Kitchen Revamp 3: Lino!
Now I know what you’re thinking lino, fake flooring, but you will be amazed by how far lino has come. With companies such as Amtico and Karndean creating flooring that replicas a wooden or tile flooring, the realism is incredible. The great reason for choosing this option is it can be cut and fitted around your existing kitchen units, so there is minimal disruption.
Kitchen Revamp 4: Worktops
So we’ve covered walls, cabinets, tiles and flooring but what about when your kitchen is covered in cheap, formica worktops! Obviously you could replace them with new tops. A cheaper option, however is to have your existing tops wrapped. Multiple online companies will template your existing top and create a thin veneer in either a granite or a quartz for a fraction of the cost of a whole new worktop.
Kitchen Revamp 5: Lighting
We’ve all been in those kitchens with harsh strip lighting or the overdose in downlighters! By employing an electrician for a few hours, those overbearing ceiling lights can be changed into stylish pendants or drop lights, vastly improving the feel of your space!
Kitchen Revamp 6: The freestanding Island
We all covet a kitchen with an island, but if you have inherited a dated kitchen then this could be missing. Rather than rip out the entire kitchen to create that much dreamed about centre piece, why not purchase a free standing unit. There is a vast selection online at very affordable prices. Even if the free standing island looks different to your other units, this doesn’t matter as you can make a feature out of it. If you choose to paint your cabinetry, then this is a perfect way to integrate your new addition!
Kitchen Revamp 7: Shelving.
Empty wall space provides a perfect opportunity for shelving. There are so many colours and styles available. This provides additional storage as well as an opportunity to showcase any accessories, books or even plants!
Kitchen Revamp 8: Plants.
Yes plants are a huge must! A very quick addition, with not just visual benefits but wellbeing too! Tall floor plants, shelf hanging pot plants or centre pieces on tables and islands, a brilliant way to bring style and warmth to your space!
Kitchen Revamp 9: Rugs.
A rug may seem like a bizarre addition to a room where food regular gets spilt on the floor! However, with rugs being this years must have outdoor accessory, they can now be cleanable, waterproof and resistant to colour fade. Rugs bring texture and interest to a space, whether it’s a runner or a centre piece under the dining table, this can be a great addition.
Kitchen Revamp 10: Accessories
We have reached our final suggestion, accessories! Whether it’s cookbooks, appliances, coffee jars or pots and pans, this is such an easy way to create a cohesive design, full of personality!
I hope this helps you to transform your uninspiring space into your kitchen of dreams. If you would like some design expertise, then get in touch, as we would love to be part of your transformation!
