The Ultimate Family Kitchen Renovation

This project was so lovely to work on. The family were gorgeous and really wanted this multifunctional space to bring them closer together. The kitchen, with new extension was not an enormous space. We worked hard to create a space with different zones. The cooking part of the kitchen was created in the first part of the room. This left the back part, with the garden views for dining and relaxation.

How We Tackled The Project!

The black Crittall doors, bookending both ends of the kitchen, are off set with warming tones of wood, brass and leather. The material choice was used consistently through the kitchen. With materials such as brass being used in the lighting, back splash, sink, taps and unit handles.

Modern extensions can be challenging spaces to add character. By installing an entire wall of reclaimed brick slips, the kitchen was instantly transformed and the room took on its own personality. Brick slips are a fantastic alternative to building an entire wall of expensive, reclaimed brick.

The most important part is the family love the space. They spend most of their time together, enjoying family life!

The Grantley Group!

We love working with commercial clients and creating spaces that lots of people get to enjoy. This Surrey Interior Design project was a fantastic project to be a part of. The Grantley Group are a group of high-end estate agents who sell and let some of the best properties throughout Surrey.

The Brief!

The brief was not your regular shop design! The Grantley Group deals with the selling and renting of the high end property market. They have recently relaunched and rebranded. This new premises is very much the start of their new customer experience. Although the space is a busy, hard working office, the client also wanted customers to feel like they were entering a cosy, inviting living room. Where they could comfortably relax, browse through brochures and discuss their needs and requirements with The Grantley’s staff.

How We Tackled the Project!

The new branding colour palette was our starting point. We then we explored how we could weave this palette into our design scheme.

When you looked from the outside into the shop, you were faced with a white wall with a door right in the middle along the back of the premises. It became clear that we needed to add texture and drama to this very focal wall. We achieved this with a  panelling design, that incorporated the central door and used the striking brand colour.

Surrey Commercial Interiors.

For the flooring, we opted for an LVT in a wide plank, laid on the diagonal to work with the layout of the space.

Zoning the space was essential to achieving this multifunctional office. The living area focal point was our bespoke, designed bookcase, which is beautifully backlit. This not only draws the eye and softens the design with the warm lighting, but offers a practical area for storage and decorative additions and brochures. We also added a large, taped rug to this zone. Again to anchor the space and to help with noise reduction. To cement the finished aesthetics, we added table lamps, plants and accessories.

In the office zone we opted for one large table which is divided up into four seperate work stations. This is a much cleaner look than using smaller, cluttered work stations. The reclaimed table top ties in with the floor and brings warmth and interest to the space. Pendant lights are positioned above for practical task lighting. This visually anchors the zone. Vintage style office chairs were added to tie in with the reclaimed, rustic appeal.

We will be continuing to work with The Grantley Group as we weave their rebranding into further commercial spaces. We look forward to sharing with you the next part of the journey.

Rustic Devon!

This project was a year in the making and is one of our first projects in the South Hams. We worked tirelessly to enhance the barns rustic charms and ensure the new extension had plenty of texture and interesting material choices to create the illusion it had always been there.

How We Tackled the Project!

With the outer stone walls being used for the extension, this provided an opportunity for us to bring the stone into the new spaces. We left a section of the walls exposed with the beautiful stone and then lime plastered the remaining wall. Beams in ceilings are such a feature, but they can also be challenging. This house has low ceilings and the dark beams were heavy, making the spaces feel even smaller than they were. We retained the charm of the original oak beams. With the softwood additions we washed them in a variety of finishes and textures to bring them down to a beautiful, softer feature.

The Interior Choices!

As the property is a luxury holiday rental, all the material choices needed to be hard wearing and easy to use. Who doesn’t love a beautiful marble in a kitchen or bathroom, but in a holiday rental these easily damaged finishes would be a nightmare. Instead we favoured rustic looking LVT, sofas with loose, washable covers and paint that was scrubbable!

We are immensely proud of this project. We have used some of our favourite natural materials to create a home that is rustically beautiful and warm and comforting.
