Why Work With An Interior Designer

Interior Designer Surrey, London, UK
QUESTIONS

Is It worth hiring an Interior designer?

We pay a huge amount to own our homes and businesses. With such a huge investment surely you want this building to be the best it possibly can. Interior design is a lot more than choosing pretty fabrics. We use a ten step interior design process that keeps our projects organised, efficient and looking sensational.

It is so disappointing when I see the interiors of a space that hasn’t met its potential. Often homeowners will spend on architects and structural engineers, but then decide to do the interior design themselves. Arguably the most important part is the interior design. This impacts how we use, relax and enjoy our spaces.

Interior design is an investment, but essential to unlocking your buildings potential.

Is working with an Interior designer expensive?

If you choose to work with us, then we do charge a design fee. We are, however experts in renovation, and working with us prevents you making costly mistakes that will impact your completion time and budget.

When you choose to work with us, we are freeing you from the stress and time it takes to successfully run a project. Giving you time back to focus on your family, work or other important areas that would otherwise be hugely impacted if you took the project on yourselves.

We also have access to many interior products & specialised trades that are trade only. Allowing us to create homes that are hugely unique and special for you.

Will you work within my budget?

We work hard to design our projects around realistic budgets. We pride ourselves on our ability to bring together bespoke designs with lower priced pieces that create eclectic and interesting spaces.

We like to be frank about budgets, as we pride ourselves on having honest, open relationships with our clients.

Do keep in mind we charge design fees, so if you are hoping to do your room on a budget, it probably won’t be worth using an interior designer.

Can we reuse our furniture?

Of course you can, if you already have some great furniture or some beautiful family heirlooms then we will work them into the design, or help you style or repurpose them to lift the space.

How do you charge?

We charge per project. Each project is different and bespoke and has different complexities & factors to consider.

Our Luxury Interior Design – The full package is determined after a briefing meeting and is broken down for each interior design process.

For smaller projects we work on an hourly fee of £85 + VAT.

We have a minimum of 50 hours attached to our projects, but this is really for one room. Most of our projects take between 12-18 months and so our fees reflect this.

Please contact us to discuss your project further.

How long does a project take?

Most of our projects are large renovations or new build construction. We work with our clients from concept to completion. We tend to work with our clients from eighteen months to three years.

For smaller projects which don’t require structural changes, the timeline is quicker. This is an investment, we want to get it right and although the timeline is important, the quality of work is more so.

There are also multiple factors to consider and how quickly you move on decisions will greatly impact timings. We will discuss timescale before we start a project.

Do you source contractors or can we use our own?

We are happy to recommend contractors to our clients but these recommendations are based on previous work. We do require clients to take out separate contracts with contractors, as we will not be responsible or liable for the quality of other trades work. We offer project fulfilment for the design elements of the project and we communicate with all the contractors working on a project but we do not manage disputes or construction work.

How can we work with an Interior designer?

Really it’s up to you! We love working on a luxury interior design – The full package, as this is really the stress-free option for our clients and how we create our best work.

We use a ten step interior design process, which really allows clients to enjoy their build process and be part of the exciting stages and not the daily stress. Some clients opt for just the design stages of the process, deciding to manage all the project fulfilment themselves. We are happy for clients to work this way. A word of caution, this takes up a lot of time. Visiting site, organising all the sub contractors and suppliers and scheduling all orders, delivering and managing deficiencies is hours and hours of time.

If you have a limited budget, it is worth looking at our Walk and Talk Through service for a quick injection of design advice.

At What Stage Of A Project Do You Get Involved?

Right at the beginning. It is a common myth that interior designers come in towards the end to choose the pretty bits. On our construction projects we like to join the team at the same stage as the architect. Architects are fantastic at creating the design for the building, but we are experts at carving out the internal spaces and making sure all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fit.

It is common for us to change external door and window positions or even push an extension out a further metre to make room for the perfect interior layout.

Do You design Commercial Spaces?

We do and we love collaborating with businesses to create spaces that truly represent a companies brand.

The process is the same as our residential service but tailored to a companies needs and not an individual or family.
