Designing this Hampton Court, river home with our brilliant clients was a magical experience. They came to us with a clear vision: they wanted their family home to feel bold, impactful, and filled with personality. It needed to work hard for everyday living while offering an atmosphere that was uplifting, inspiring, and fun. The property already had good bones thanks to their previous extension, but the interiors were bland, uninspiring, and not reflective of the dynamic family who lived there. Our role was to inject warmth, texture, and intention — transforming the house into a home with soul, rhythm, and style.
Unlocking Potential Through Subtle Changes
Not every project requires dramatic reconstruction. For this Surrey interior design scheme, the only major structural work took place in the principal bedroom. By adding a full-height window and a new balcony, we maximised the breathtaking river views that had previously been underplayed. Inside, we layered calming wallpaper with tactile furniture and soft finishes, radically transforming a once cluttered space into a serene and grounding retreat. It became a room that reflected balance — a place to restore energy while staying deeply connected to the natural surroundings.
Bespoke Joinery & Bold Gestures
At Sadie Pizzey Interiors, we believe that joinery is the quiet force behind luxury design, and in this project it played a central role. In the large open-plan space, we introduced bespoke joinery alongside an in-house–designed walnut planter, adding depth and sculptural interest while linking the interiors to the organic palette of the river views.
The hallway, often neglected in many Hampton Court homes, became a standout feature of the design. What was once a bland, transitional corridor was transformed into a powerful moment of arrival. Bold wallpaper, layers of texture, and bespoke joinery turned it into a space brimming with character — a reminder that every part of a home deserves intention and care.
Multifunctional Spaces with Personality
Our clients wanted their home to adapt to the realities of modern family life. The front study needed to serve as both an office and a home gym — two functions that couldn’t feel at odds with each other. By zoning with texture, flooring, and wrap-around mirrors, we created a space that shifts seamlessly between focus and movement, retaining harmony and practicality in equal measure.
The snug, by contrast, was designed as a moodier retreat. Previously cold and unused, it became one of the most loved rooms in the house. We wrapped it in deep green walls, added a tobacco velvet sofa, and finished the space with bold, punchy accessories. It’s now a cocooning, atmospheric corner for downtime — proof that thoughtful design can transform underused rooms into favourites.
Designing for Everyday Joy
For us, this project was about far more than just creating a bold look. It was about listening deeply, understanding the rhythms of family life, and shaping interiors that could support, inspire, and delight. We wove in texture and warmth to echo the river landscape, created bold focal points that celebrated individuality, and layered bespoke craftsmanship with tactile finishes. The result is a house that is practical but far from ordinary, stylish but never at the expense of comfort.
